What an Electrical Contractor Actually Does

An electrical contractor takes full responsibility for the electrical system of a building or facility. Not just the wiring. The entire system: load calculations, design drawings, material procurement, installation, testing, authority approvals, commissioning, and handover documentation.

At Gopa Engineering, this responsibility sits with our own engineers from day one. We do not divide the scope across consultants, suppliers, and installers working independently. One team designs what another team installs. The engineer who reviewed the SLD is the same engineer who signs off the test register.

For clients, this means clearer accountability, tighter coordination, and systems that perform as designed from the day they are switched on.

Sectors Where We Have Executed

Eight stages. No skipped steps. Every stage documented and signed off before the next begins.

Technical Scoping and Site Study

We begin with a site visit and a structured technical brief. Load requirements, supply parameters (HT or LT), existing infrastructure, and site constraints are documented before any design begins. Assumptions are recorded and confirmed with the client.

Engineering Design

SLD, load schedules, panel sizing, cable sizing, protection coordination, and earthing design are prepared by our engineers to IS 732 and NBC standards. Drawings are reviewed internally before submission to the client.

BOQ and Fixed Estimation

BOQ is prepared from actual material quantities derived from the engineering design. Clients receive a transparent, line-item estimate with no markup surprises. All material specifications and approved brands are listed.

Regulatory Submissions

We handle all statutory submissions: CEIG and State Electrical Inspectorate drawing approvals, CEA applications for HT connections, and DISCOM power applications. We track and follow up until approvals are received.

Procurement and Site Mobilisation

Materials are ordered against agreed specifications from approved vendors. Site crew is mobilised with full PPE, tools, and test instruments. Material delivery is tracked against the installation program.

Phased Installation with Quality Gates

Installation proceeds in defined phases with a quality sign-off at each gate. Containment erection, cable pulling, terminations, earthing, and panel wiring are each inspected and approved before the next phase begins.

Pre-Commissioning Testing

Every circuit and system is tested before energisation. Tests are carried out with calibrated instruments and results are recorded in a test register that forms part of the handover package.

Commissioning and Handover

Energisation is systematic and sequenced. Functional verification is completed under load conditions. The project is not closed until all punchlist items are resolved and the client has signed off on the documentation package.

Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC)

Scheduled preventive maintenance, thermographic scanning, switchgear servicing, earth resistance testing, and rapid breakdown response for all systems we install and for third-party installations.

What Separates Gopa Engineering

The electrical contractor market in India has no shortage of firms that will give you a price. What is harder to find is a firm that will give you the same engineering standard on every project, regardless of its size or location.

Engineering-Led Execution

Design and installation are handled by the same team. The engineer who prepares the SLD supervises the installation. This eliminates the interpretation gap that causes rework on most sites.

Subcontracting of Core Works

Gopa Engineering executes all electrical installation with its own engineers and qualified wiremen. core scope is subcontracted if any. Quality and safety standards are maintained without exception.

Regulated Sector Competence

Our teams have worked inside GMP pharma plants, hospital critical power zones, Ex-classified chemical facilities, and ISO cleanrooms. We understand sector-specific requirements from direct site experience, not from reading standards.

Transparent BOQ Pricing

Our estimates are built from engineering drawings, not from experience-based approximations. Clients can see exactly what they are paying for, with no end-of-project surprises.

Single Contract for MEP Scope

Electrical scope can be combined with HVAC, plumbing, and fire systems under one contract. One project manager. One schedule. One point of contact. e

Handover Documentation That Works

Installation proceeds in defined phases with a quality sign-off at each gate. Containment erection, cable pulling, terminations, earthing, and panel wiring are each inspected and approved before the next phase begins.

Pan-India Site Delivery

We execute projects across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat. Same engineering standards. Same site discipline. Regardless of city.

Commissioning and Handover

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Gopa Engineering handles the full electrical scope for industrial plants, commercial buildings, pharma and biotech facilities, hospitals, warehouses, and cleanrooms. This includes LT and HT electrical installation, substation and transformer works, lighting and power distribution, ELV systems, pre-commissioning testing, statutory approvals, commissioning, and post-handover AMC.

A: No. All core electrical installation is carried out by Gopa Engineering's own engineers and qualified wiremen. We do not subcontract installation scope. This ensures consistent quality, direct accountability, and no interface gaps between design and execution.

A: LT (Low Tension) refers to electrical systems at voltages up to 1000V, typically 415V three-phase for industrial facilities. HT (High Tension) covers systems between 1000V and 33 kV and requires a dedicated on-site substation. Industrial facilities with a connected load above approximately 100 kVA typically require an HT connection. Gopa Engineering executes both LT and HT scopes under a single contract.

A: We follow a structured pre-commissioning testing process before any system is energised. Tests include insulation resistance (IR) testing, earth loop impedance, continuity, polarity checks, relay functional testing, RCD verification, and earth resistance measurement. Every result is recorded with calibrated instruments and submitted as part of the handover documentation. Only systems that pass testing are energised.

A: Yes. We prepare and submit all regulatory documentation on behalf of the client. This covers CEIG and State Electrical Inspectorate drawing approvals, CEA applications for HT metering and connection, and power applications to the state DISCOM. We coordinate authority inspections and track approvals through to completion certificate.
